I’m playing at the Hare and Hounds in Kingsheath next Saturday, 27th August. It’s an enticing line up with Juneau Brothers, purveyors of wonky pop songs from homemade MIDI gizmos headlining. Papa November, Glatze and Flumpophone and Posh One are also on the bill.
Big thanks to the wonderful Joe Sparrow from A New Band A Day blog for name dropping me in into an interview with New York’s Hype Machine radio. You can hear Hawaiian Dying and Hippocampus played over the interview at about 20 minutes in. Also, great songs by Bjork, SBTRKT, Memory Tapes and others played throughout.
The great A Pocket Full of Seeds, has dropped the conventional format of blog post for a piece more akin to freestyle poetry on their expression of Hippocampus here. As well as unintentionally spearheading this new form of review, (how can this NOT catch on???) they may have also just invented the genre of ‘Environmonica.’ I’ll buy it.
Like a teddy bear claw machine picking out strange, endearing and sometimes dumb animals, A New Band A Day heroically trawls the net to present to you an undiscovered band/artist for each new day this blue and green spinning fluke of a thing we’re living on brings. On Thursday, they grabbed me and I’m reviewed here. Strangely, the day I’m featured on is also my birthday. Got to be better than socks.
VS//YOUTHCLUB have produced a deftly warped remix of Hippocampus…
and here’s my remix of their song On the Count of Three….
Check out the VS//YOUTHCLUB original and more great music over on their soundcloud page
I’m pleased to announce Hippocampus has just been released via Manchester’s Leverage records as an e.p! Check it out here on iTunes with its siblings Hawaiian Dying and Home Remedy.
